MOI AM NOT JUST A MYSTIC, BUT A NEW MYSTIC!

New Mystics promotes "infinite possibilities in theatre, music, poetry and prose." Most recently, they choose to promote me (grin), which is to say, I have some new poems HERE(or direct .pdf link HERE).

But I'm also struck by their recent additions to their Advisory Board, per their new Press Release below. I approve of their message: that art and poetry is not just the purview of, uh, artists and poets! (Not to mention that in these dire economic times, this may be a way for arts organizations to have counsel on how better to survive.)

NEW MYSTICS FILMS has posted the second short film in the "6 Reasons" series. Starring Jeremy Madia, Rich Palmros, and Megan Sambataro, with original music by Knight Berman Jr. Written by Joey Madia, with direction/editing by Dan Cooley.

NEW MYSTICS ENTERPRISES, LLC, our new publishing imprint, announces the January 2009 publication of Joey Madia's Jester-Knight, a knights and dragons fantasy novel. More details will be available in the next few months. Many thanks to Jackson Fisher at Fisher King Press (www.fisherkingpress.com) for all of his help and advice in getting our first book launched.

We are thrilled to have Eileen Tabios, Recipient of the Philippines' National Book Award for Poetry, join the New Mystics family. Eileen has shared 7 of her poems, including several from a forthcoming book.

Oliver and Claire Smith, our new friends from England, debut with a short story and accompanying illustration and 3 poems. Oliver was recently published in the Inkermen Press (inkermenpress.tripod.com) anthology Lands End.

Meredith Kahn, Philadelphia resident (and super-psyched Phillies fan!) has shared her short story, "Cries in the Night," with accompanying illustration by her brother Tim.

BLACK DIAMOND POETICS

Retired my Gasping Blog (though will keep Archives online).

I've decided to make the Beach House my new poem-blog.

I hadn't anticipated the sand, here, to be black...

...though I suppose that makes sense since black sand often occurs in regions of high wave energy...

WRITING REALITY

Hadda go into San Francisco and spend the morning going over legal papers for, ahem, "Galatea Winery and Vineyards, L.L.C." Always a frisson when I'm there all lumpy in my farmer's garb as I sit in my lawyer's sleek skyscraper office. Anyway, whilst signing signing signing -- and being all grumpy about it because the promised bagel with cream cheese didn't appear -- I noted the need for business cards so that I can impress the hawks ever-circling over Galatea.

Moi: So what's my corporate title?

Lawyer: What do you want to be?

Well, Wall Street always had the most boring titles so after some thought:

Moi: THE EMPRESS!

Lawyer: [silence]

Notary in the room: [stifled laughter]

Moi: Didn't like that? Well, what's actually my legal title in the company?

Lawyer: "Member"

Moi: Are you serious?

Lawyer: Yes. Legally, you're either a member or a manager and you happen to be a member.

Moi: But shitski, Legal Peep. That is banal. Okay, how's about --

THE IMPERIAL CHATELAINE!

Lawyer [after sigh]: Your peeps will think you're just a fat bottle.

Moi [suddenly noticing her wine-plumped belly]: Okay --

THE IMPERIOUS CHATELAINE!

Lawyer [another long-suffering sigh...]

Moi: Okay. Let's make it simple. From hereon, I am the company's

CHATELAINE!

And what does all of that have to do with Poetry, youse ask? Well, the "Chatelaine," I remind y'all, was something Moi concocted for the delectation of poetry blogland. And now it's a reality. Thus continuing my 1,000% batting average on writing things viz poetry ... that then become true!
